Renaissance: The term renaissance means revival or re-birth. It emerged in Italy. The period saw spectacular developments in the fields of art, literature, religion, philosophy, science and politics. There was a revival of pre-christian classical learning. It gave rise to a new form of thinking.
Humanism
The main characteristics of Renaissance was humanism. It stressed on dignity of man and faith in his potential. It gave him freedom and rights. One of the famous humanist was Picodella Mirandola. Humanism believed in the limitless potentialities of man.
Secularism
There was shift from religious worldliness to humanistic worldliness as people became more interested in the material world. Renaissance made a breakthrough by separating religion from church, it stressed on secularism.
