The editing stage should typically be preceded by a feedback session. It’s necessary to get feedback on your first draft, from teachers, peers, or subject experts. Once you get feedback, you will have more clarity about the gaps and issues in your writing. The editing stage should be given as much priority as the previous two stages. After the first draft is ready, you can revise the drafts as many times as you wish--there can be a second. third, or even a fourth draft! The more drafts you work on, the more polished your writing will be. ‘While editing is a rather dynamic process, it is useful to keep in mind certain parameters while editing: namely, comprehension, development, and writing mechanics. Comprehension refers to whether you have accurately understood the assignment and whatever you have read/researched. Development refers to whether the arguments have been shaped logically. whether sentences and paragraphs transition effectively from one to the next. Finally, writing mechanics refers to whether the writing is grammatically coherent and whether the best vocabulary has been used to capture and convey ideas.
