Ans: Sodium benzoate inhibits the growth of potentially harmful bacteria, mold and other microbes in food, thus deterring spoilage. It’s particularly effective in acidic food. Its commonly used in foods such as pickles, jelly etc.
B. Vitamin C play important role in wound healing.
Ans: Vitamin C has many physiologic functions in the human body. It is often aligned with wound healing because of its role in collagen with wound healing because of its role in collagen formation. Vitamin C is a cofactor in proline and lysine hydroxylation a necessary step in the formation of collagen. Vitamin C also provides tensile strength to newly built collagen, otherwise new tissue could not stretch without tearing. Tensile strength is important in pressure ulcer healing because healed pressure ulcers are susceptible ot future skin breakdown.
C: Refined flour like maida and suji have less thiamine as compared to whole wheat flour.
Ans: Wheat flour contains the endosperm, with much of the bran and germ removed and is enriched with iron, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin and folic acid. It’s also known as all-purpose flour or white flour.
D. Sodium helps in regulating alkalinity of body fluids.
Ans: Most of the body’s sodium is located in blood and in the fluid around cells. Sodium helps the body keep fluids in a normal balance. Sodium plays a key role in normal nerve and muscle function. The body obtains sodium through food and drink and losses it primarily in sweat and urine.
