 Lata Mangeshkar was an Indian backup vocalist and occasional music composer who lived from September 28, 1929, to February 6, 2022. She is widely acknowledged as one of India’s greatest and most influential vocalists.

Over the course of a seven-decade career, she has been dubbed the Nightingale of India, the Voice of the Millennium, and the Queen of Melody for her contributions to the Indian music business. Her voice is so sweet, so so sweet.

Her nature is as affinited as our family members. She recorded songs in approximately thirty-six Indian languages as well as a few international languages, though she is most known for her Hindi, Bengali, and Marathi recordings.

Throughout her career, she garnered numerous awards and honours. The Government of India awarded her the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989. In 2001, she was granted the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, for her achievements to the country, she is only the second female singer to earn this honour, following M. S. Subbulakshmi. 

In 2007, France bestowed upon her the highest civilian honour, Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour. She won three National Film Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and a slew of other accolades.

She was one of the first Indian playback singers to appear in London’s Royal Albert Hall in 1974. At Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani’s wedding, she sang a rendition of the Gayatri Mantra. She has left this world, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
